Every tradesperson on ProveAPro
How vetting works
Every tradesperson on ProveAPro passes six checks before they're listed: identity, business registration, insurance, licensing, references, and complaint history.
Every tradesperson on ProveAPro is checked before their profile goes live. Here's exactly what that means.
What "approved" means
An approved tradesperson has passed all checks that apply to their trade. It does not guarantee any particular outcome on any particular job — no platform can do that. What it does mean is that the basic boxes have been ticked: the business is real, the insurance is current, customers have spoken to us about working with them, and there are no active red flags.
The six checks
What every tradesperson clears before they’re listed.
One run-through up front, then re-checked every year. If anything lapses, the listing comes down until it’s sorted.
Identity
Government-issued photo ID confirmed for every owner before approval.
Business registration
Verified against the NS Registry of Joint Stock Companies, with the legal name on file.
Insurance
Liability insurance reviewed and the expiry recorded — re-checked yearly.
Licensing
Trade licences confirmed where required: electricians, plumbers, gas fitters.
References
At least two recent customers contacted directly. We listen for the things that matter.
Clean record
No active Better Business Bureau or small-claims complaints.
What we keep checking
Vetting isn't a one-time event. Insurance is verified annually. Reviews are monitored. If repeated negative reviews come in, or a customer reports something that contradicts the original references, we follow up. A tradesperson who can't maintain the standard gets removed.
What happens with a bad experience
If a job goes wrong, contact us. We can't act as a court — disputes over money, quality, or warranty have legal channels that exist for a reason — but we will investigate, document what we hear from both sides, and remove a tradesperson if a pattern emerges. Reputation on this platform is earned and maintained.
